Made here in our sewing studio, this is a fantastic, one of a kind, cushion creation made from natural cowhide and Icelandic sheepskin.
Long wool sheepskin is notorious for being difficult to sew, that long wool gives sewing machines such a hard time and zippers hate it too!
Cowhide combined with sheepskin are our favorite way to design cushions because it's never a dull result. Over the top maybe, but never dull.
In order to make these cushions, we use three types of sewing machines, each for a different part of the job at hand. The mini cow required two other pieces of specialty equipment.
It's also got a heavy duty zipper, so that you can change the stuffing whenever you need too. Right now we have stuffed it with loose fill polyfill.
We made this cushion from 16.5" x 16.5" pieces of cowhide and sheepskin. The completed cushion body part is about 15.5" x 15.5" plus the sheepskin wool which extends the size to about 19"x 19". Stuffing it with loose fill enables us to make any size cushion and not be reliant on standard inner cushion sizes. I'm sure that a typical 16" x 16" inner cushion would fit this.
