It's also worth noting that cowhides will naturally have a few unique characteristics, including minor imperfections. Sometimes, small repairs may have been expertly completed by the tannery during the long and complex tanning process, especially since large cowhide pieces are involved. These natural variations and subtle repairs don't detract from the hide's inherent character; instead, they add to its authenticity and story, making each one truly one-of-a-kind.

Importantly, all of our cowhides are by-products of the meat industry. If they weren't expertly tanned into these beautiful rugs, they would most likely be discarded as waste. Our tannery shares some fascinating statistics: only about 6% of cows slaughtered for meat have their hides processed for rugs.
