We are incredibly lucky to be able to source these sheepskins that originate from Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England.

There are officially 60 recognized purebred & native sheep breeds found the British Isles, much of the British Isles is suited well for sheep to thrive because of the climate and the terrain.

These sheepskins can range from feeling silky soft to coarse, and all are raised for different purposes in the wool industry. The breeds with the  more coarse wool types are used in carpet making, and for creating tartan blankets and material, while the softer wools are used for yarn.

Because there is such a variance in the feel of the wool, we describe each sheepskin in the first sentence of each description.

Please read about how sheepskins are measured and how to care for your sheepskin in the footer menu.

Our very special sheepskins from the British Isles and Ireland

Nat's the owner of Angus Oliver Sheepskins was born in Great Britain, her son Angus was born in Wales. Nat's is very familiar with the types of rare breed sheep that are raised there. From the very small hill and island breeds such as Shetland sheep, to rather massive sheep breeds like Wensleydales there are 60 distinct pure and native breeds found in the United Kingdom.

These sheepskins are very special, and although most are thought to be very soft to feel, many of the sheep breeds are raised for their wool to be made into carpets and tartan material. So many of the sheep are raised to have more coarse feeling wool.

All of our British sheepskins are tanned in Europe and meet REACH tanning standards, you can rest assured that we only bring in the highest quality sheepskins that are kind to your skin and the environment.

How are sheepskins measured?

Sheepskins are always measured on the woolly side, measuring from the longest tips of wool. Please make sure that this sheepskin fits your sizing requirements before purchasing.
