These natural rugs truly transform a space, bringing a unique and luxurious feel. They're incredibly soft underfoot, instantly creating an unmistakable aura of comfort and coziness in any room. Plus, they're generally super easy to care for! To make sure your cowhide lasts for years, it’s best to place it in an area that doesn't get a ton of foot traffic.
If you start to notice any curling on the edges, a quick fix is to lightly mist the edge with water and then weigh it down overnight. For those really stubborn spots, you can even carefully trim them with an exacto knife. Often, dry climates or high-traffic areas are the culprits behind those curled edges. It's also totally normal for cowhides to have a few natural imperfections. Sometimes, during the long and complex tanning process, given how massive cowhides are, the tannery might make small repairs. These natural characteristics actually enhance the hide's unique charm and character, making each piece truly one-of-a-kind.
Got pets? They absolutely adore sleeping on cowhides! These rugs are perfect for laying on cold floors, offering a warm and inviting spot that helps keep your furry friends comfortable and cozy within your home.

It's important to know that all of our cowhides are a valuable by-product of the meat industry. Without this tanning process, these hides would most likely be discarded as waste. Our tannery tells us that only about 6 percent of cows processed for meat have their hides tanned for rugs, and of those, a tiny fraction—just 3%—come in colors and patterns other than the common black and brown. This means you're getting something truly special and contributing to less waste.
