It's also worth noting that cowhides will naturally have a few unique characteristics or minor imperfections. Occasionally, small repairs may have been completed by the tannery during the long and complex tanning process, especially since cowhides are massive. This doesn't detract from the individual character and charm of the hide; instead, it highlights its authentic nature.

All of our cowhides are by-products of the meat industry. Without this tanning process, they would most likely be discarded as waste. Our tannery has shared that only about 6 percent of cows processed for meat have their hides tanned for rugs, and of that small percentage, only about 3% of the cowhides feature colors and patterns other than the common black and brown. This makes the unique patterns and colors of our cowhide rugs, as well as our luxurious sheepskin offerings, even more special and sustainable choices for your home.
